Monitor a directory, and upload/archive files as they arrive

Syncplify.me FTP Script! version: 3.1.6+

Monitoring a directory for certain files, and as soon as they become available (someone puts them in that directory) upload them somewhere else and then move the original files to a different location (archive) on the local disk. This is one of the most common questions from our FTP Script! users.

For such reason we have prepared the sample script below. It will probably fit the most common cases, and it’s a decent learning tool as well as starting point to create your own (more complex) scripts to accomplish your very own particular task.  Continue reading

FTP Script! lesson: using the new features in v3.1

Syncplify.me FTP Script! version: 3.1.0+

FTP Script! v3.1.0.50, released earlier today, comes with a bunch of new features and functions to simplify some tasks related to the management of local files. In fact, it’s not just about transferring files to/from FTP servers… what you do with those files after/before you upload/download them to your local disk also matters!

In earlier versions of FTP Script! the FileCopy function, for example, was very limited. It could copy only one file at a time, and it had no support for wildcard file masks. In v3.1 we greatly improved it, and you can now use it this way:

The third parameter (set to true in the example here above) determines whether the function should overwrite the destination file(s) if it/they already exist.

How to uninstall Syncplify software products

Uninstalling any Syncplify software products is very easy.

In fact, here at Syncplify, we use Windows Installer to create our installation packages; such tool is highly integrated with the Windows operating system, and registers all installations in the Windows Installer database, so that when you want to uninstall any of our software products you just have to:

  1. Control Panel -> Programs and Features
  2. Locate the Syncplify software you wish to uninstall
  3. Click the Uninstall button
Everything below this point applies ONLY to Syncplify.me Server! and to no other Syncplify software product

The uninstaller will only uninstall the software, but it will not delete your configuration nor your Syncplify.me Server! instances and virtual servers, so if you choose to reinstall the software in the future, nothing gets lost.

If – instead – you wish to completely remove Syncplify.me Server!, including all configuration, users, virtual servers, and database… you will have to perform these additional steps BEFORE the 3-step procedure explained above:

  • Connect to the SuperAdmin interface (or run the Instance Controller if you’re still using an old version 3)
  • Delete all virtual servers
  • Once all virtual servers are deleted you can proceed with points #1, #2 and #3 above

Maintenance/support subscription explained

Every time you purchase a Syncplify software product, you get (included with your first purchase) a 1-year maintenance/support subscription. But what is it exactly?

It’s a yearly subscription that entitles all of our customer to the following:

  • All updates/upgrades to all minor and major versions released during the subscription coverage period
  • Email support, documentation and knowledge base
  • Remote assistance support (up to 3 incidents a year)

Given the above, it is therefore important to understand what incidents are:

  • if the software is misbehaving, or you have identified a bug, that is an incident
  • if you simply don’t know how to do something, that’s not an incident, and we kindly ask you to – please – read the documentation and search the knowledge base before contacting our support team (we’re deeply grateful for your understanding )

The first year of subscription is included in your first software purchase at no additional cost, and renews automatically year-by-year, after the first year. If you don’t like the automatic renewal you can disable it at any time after your purchase by logging into the account that PayPro (our e-commerce partner) gives you. if you do so, no charges will be applied unless you decide to manually renew it. You may also disable it before you purchase by clicking on the little orange calendar icon.

The cost for a maintenance/support subscription is 20% of the original cost you paid to buy the license. So, for example, if you buy a single BASIC license ($199) your annual optional subscription cost (starting from the second year) will be $39.80; another example: if you buy 2 FTP Script! licenses ($49 each, total $98) your annual optional subscription cost (starting from the second year) will be $19.60 ($9.80 * 2).
