Why did my license revert back to FREE?

Occasionally we receive emails from customers whose paid license has reverted back to “free” or “freeware” mode, and they ask us why that happened.

To reduce the phenomenon of software piracy, Syncplify.me Server! binds its licenses to a so-called System-ID upon their activation. This means that, once a license has been activated, it is bound to that System-ID forever, unless we reset it (thus allowing activation on a new machine or VM).

Automatic upload/download speed optimization

Introduced in v4.2, there’s a registry setting that allows Syncplify.me Server! to automatically choose the socket’s inbound and outbound buffer sizes in an attempt to optimize upload and download speeds.

This setting cannot be configured in the web interface, the only way to set it is at Windows registry level. Restarting the Syncplify.me Server! system services is not necessary, as this setting is pulled from the registry every time a new incoming connection is served. Continue reading

Syncplify.me Server! v4.2.0 released

We have just released version 4.2.0 of our Syncplify.me Server! software. This version features the following improvements:

  • Added: support for AWS Load Balancer’s “proxy protocol” (HAProxy protocol v1) to correctly identify the remote client IP address from multi-node load-balanced EC2 instances inside the AWS cloud
  • Added: AutoOptimizeSocket registry setting to automatically optimize the socket’s inbound/outbound buffer sizes and ultimately improve upload/download speed
  • Improved: performance and reliability of the [%USER_HOME%] finder function inside the VFS subsystem
  • Fixed: directory list timer and counter in the FTP protocol handler
  • Fixed: few other minor and rarely occurring issues

  • Added: support for the XCUP, XMKD, XCWD, XRMD commands in the FTP(E/S) protocol handlers; even though such commands are deprecated by the IETF protocol standard, some FTP clients still use them, so we now support them even though we don’t advertise them in the FEAT response

How to: SFTP authentication via one-time passwords (OTP)

Syncplify.me Server! v4.1.7 released

  • Fixed: bug in the SSH “Shell” subsystem that prevented the user to be placed in the correct home directory upon opening a shell
  • Fixed: bug that prevented the TLS socket closure notification packet from being sent (only on Active FTPS data connections, no other protocol was affected)
